Burrowing Mayfly (Ephemera danica) side on

Hi y'all, OK, OK its a Mayfly and it's now June so this one got up late OK. But wasn't it worth the wait? The iridescent wings have such defined detail that has been brought out by using the ring flash. I thought it would be useful in the darker spring and autumn periods but I find I use it all the time now as it give a shadowless picture and allows for a greater depth of field. You still need a monopod though as it is still quite shallow and any movement in or out will still lose the shot.
