Ah yes, the good old bluebottle. Lots of these around but ignored a lot because of the familiarity. It is not until you get close up that the true vibrancy of the colours is appreciated. This was taken at Brandon Marsh Nature reserve in Warwickshire, England close to where I live one warm evening in July. I was fortunate with the dark background. It seems to be doing as its Latin name suggests.
