Hoverfly on thistle (Syrphus ribesii)

It looks like the hot weather is leaving us for a while so here's a nice reminder of what we can look forward to when springtime returns. It also gives me a chance to check out the pictorial delights I have taken this summer for your delectation through the dark nights ahead. You lucky people.
