Collared earthstar (Geastrum triplex)

I have heard of earthstars but never seen one in real life, until last week. Then hey presto I find about 30 of them no further than half a mile from where I work. There are a few different types, one being the collared pictured here and another is striated and a third beaked. All look pretty amazing. If you look close I think this one was pleased to see me. I will be adding more wicked fungi through the week so stay tuned.
